Designer Spotlight: YAYA Aflalo

Posted on 12.31.07 to $100 and under, Designer Feature by Lindsay

One of the most fabulous and chic trends on the horizon is what I call casual luxe. It’s not too pretentious, but it’s also not pajama-like. Definitely something I can get along well with, because I’m a student/entrepreneur/photographer/editor at a newspaper and, while I’ll admit – I’ve been caught in very pajama-like substances, I hate going from place to place in constricting clothes – however high-fashion as they may be.

Yael (Ya-ya) AflaloYAYA Aflalo was founded in 1999 by designer Yael Aflalo (her nickname is Ya-ya). The Los Angeles resident pulls her inspiration from her urban surroundings in the fashion district. Utilizing all kinds of materials from cashmere to canvas, silk to denim… Ya-ya produces extremely flattering garments that were created with every aspect of a woman’s body in mind.

And, luckily for us, her sale pieces are extremely luxurious – and affordable.

Here are some YAYA pieces that you really ought to consider picking up – she’s exploding in LA, she’ll soon be on your list!

I have lots of love for Yaya Aflalo. She is one of my favorite designers. Hautelook.com is hosting a sample sale on her collection tomorrow and I am really excited to see what they have. They have really great deals on there. Seriously, like up to 70% off. It doesn’t get much better than that.
