Prom 101: Classy Dames

So a little birdy told me that prom is coming!!
I’ve been out of high school for… years, we’ll say, and didn’t even get to go to my own prom (boo!). I have a poor history of school dances:
My freshman year, I went to our spring dance only to have my boyfriend dump me (publicly) then dance the night away, makeout included, with my childhood best friend’s older sister. AWESOME.
My sophomore tolo (girls ask boys), I asked a boy to be my date and this is what he said:
“Oh… um… I can’t actually go to Tolo… I uh… got a parking ticket and didn’t pay it so I have to serve time in jail on the weekend of tolo. Sorry.”
Yeah. You’re 17 and have to go to jail. Right.
Prom? Didn’t happen. I did running start and, because of that, I got removed from the notification list of when tickets were on sale, as well as when prom actually was. Even if I wanted to go, no one in my senior class knew me, so I couldn’t really ask anyone.
So I never got to wear pretty dresses (except to two homecomings out of…4) so now I get to live vicariously through YOU ALL!
I think if I were to be able to go to prom now, I’d have some inner conflicts to worry about. “Do I go classic and refined? Do I go trendy and glamorous? Do I go funky and indie? WHAT DO I DO?” So I’ve divided my dream-prom attire into three posts.
Here’s the “Classy Dame” dress selections - on a budget! Tell your parents! They’ll likely love the idea of you channeling the old days in these elegant, timeless dresses:
A.B.S. Sateen Evening Dress
$425 $255
This is a beautiful mauve gown from A.B.S. with a beauuuutiful draped deep v-neck in the back - so classic. It comes with a thin, gold, jeweled belt to put just below the bust for some extra sparkle. It’s sateen-woven, so the sheen is high, so you’re sure to get noticed. Click the photo to see the back of the dress.
Alexia Admor Lace Strapless Dress
$215 $84.99
This is a huge steal. Emulate the 1950’s style and throw up your hair in a beehive or flip it out - this is the classic LBD. The satin bow around the waist is too classic to pass.
A.B.S. ‘Elaine’ Dress
$520 $229
If you’re a girl who wants to be the belle of the ball, but doesn’t want to seem like she wants it - this is the perfect dress. The sheen and icy glow of the white charmeuse fabric will reflect any light that hits you. The black around the bust of the dress will bring a little… extra attention. Especially with the beaded black trim that lines the colorblocking.
Stay tuned for more prom!
xoxo.

There is no doubt that those classy prom dresses from the past can still create a terrific impact.
