B&B Loves Shabby Apple
Posted on 10.01.09 to $100 and under, Designer Feature, Ethical Fashion by LindsayI’ve been swooning over Utah-based dress operation, Shabby Apple, for a while now. Actually, I need to admit something…
I was kind of holding off on telling you all about them, because I wanted them all to myself. I know, how selfish, right? Well, you’ll understand why in a second.
Shabby Apple’s mission resonates with me as a more modest, endowed girl:
After years of not being able to find stylish dresses that covered enough skin to make you really feel comfortable (without wearing a tank top, cardigan or long slip), owners Emily and CK decided to do something about it.
They visited trade shows, marketplaces and designer studios only to discover the problem was not that department stores weren’t buying the right dresses, but that designers weren’t designing them.
Shabby Apple is proud to offer you fantastic dresses that allow you to look fabulous, without having to compromise anything else.
And they’re right – you won’t have to compromise. The stuff they stock is worth its weight in gold (and at this point, we should all be thinking about investing in gold). They’ve separated their dresses into categories based on style: Sophisticated, Flirty, Soiree, Manhattan, and… Carousel. I know it’s not a well-known “style”, but if you haven’t seen all of the circus references in fashion over the last 6 months, you’ve been under a rock! (Not really, I’m just obsessed.)
So basically, these dresses won’t make you fear the wind, and you’ll never have to constantly tug down your skirt for fear of the notorious “chocha flash” – but you’ll keep your shape (even flatter it), keep your dignity, and keep a good chunk of change in your pocket because, for this quality of garment, these prices are good.
Let’s get to it.

Lois Lane Dress $79

Saffron Dress $86

Wool Tweed Yorkshire Dress $98
In addition to these stunning dresses, they also offer Maternity, Activewear, Girls’ and Plus Size! That’s on top of the shoe and accessory offerings, of course. Oh, and the whole helping-women-charity thing.
Yes, they might be the best little shop on the ‘net.
Why else are they great? Because they’ve given you a discount! 10% off with the code brokebeautiful10off at checkout!
So what do you think? Great as I say they are? Or am I out of my mind?

I know I said this at the Demoiselles, but soon! Several of those dresses get me all a flutter… I just wish more of them were in the plus-sized section!

The dresses are GORGEOUS! I like the less-high necked ones…I find as a busty girl, at at least on me (maybe because I’m so short?) there’s a very fine line to be walked. Either something is high-necked & makes me look dowdy/matronly, or something is so low I feel like I should be having people stick dollar bills in it. Yech. But they have some gorgeous dresses that look like a nice in between neckline. The lengths are a little long for me (see: short) but I can easily take them up or have someone else do so. So they definitely get a thumbs up from me!

YES! It is a totally fine line! I love high-necked, too, but I swear my boobs like 5x bigger when I wear a turtleneck! I agree on the length – it’s nice to have some classic dresses, but the hemlines are a leeettle conservative.

The dresses are really lovely although not necessarily affordable – $100.00? Eh. And it’s tough because I’m busty but thin so sizing is a big hassle even if they do advertise a flattering fit. I’m still wary….
But their selection is gorgeous, I have to admit

Bought the Madison Ave one, in the Manhattan section. With a coupon it was $75 including shipping.
It’s going to be the most beautiful thing in my closest, when it arrives here.
I just know it. (P.S. This is all your fault!)
