Devil in the Hamptons
Posted on 09.21.09 to $100 and under by LindsayAs far as fashion is concerned, I never seem to be seasonally accurate.
I watched many a friend slowly shake their heads from side to side as I mentioned in November that I’d like to invest in some cuffed shorts, & July when I announced my passion for floor-length overcoats.
Lately, all I can think about are flowy pairs of light, airy, linen pants topped with a dark, high-cut, structured top with black, strappy sandals. I want the pants to graze the floor, while the toe of the shoes are the only thing that (very occasionally) peeks out. I want the top to be structural enough to keep my shape, but come right to the top of the low-slung linen pants. I want just-out-of-bed hair, and lip balm.
I know, it’s all very “Dominatrix of Montauk”, but I love the ease and the control of it and with the glamour of high-heeled sandals – it’s like the perfect character.

Jenny Han Cut Out Blouse (Slate) from 80sPurple – $61.60 (was $154), GAP Drawstring Linen Pants
– $29.99 (were $54.50), Mahal Heel
from Alloy – $42.90.

Polka Dot Ruffle Halter from Charlotte Russe – $17.99,J. Crew Linen Beach Pant – $19.99 (were $69.50), Strappy Wrap-Around Stilettos
from Charlotte Russe – $32.99.

Thrown for a Loop Top from ModCloth – $62.99, Rebecca Taylor Wide Leg Linen Pants – $82.50 (were $275), Oh… Deer! Gelato Shoe in Black – $85 (were $125).

I’ve been having a lot of fun dreaming up outfits that contrast each other, architecturally. This is one of my favorites, thus far.

Haha well, fashion weeks are always one season ahead of the current season, so maybe you can blame your weather-inappropriate cravings on the fashion industry’s forward-looking anxiety?
