Guess Who #2

I’m really [surprised and] glad that the first Guess Who was so well-received! Thanks for all your comments & links & stuff, guys!

This week, I’m going a little more conservative. Good for the holiday season around your family who still doesn’t appreciate a good 4″ ankle boot, or shorts with tights… I’m looking for winter staples that combine style & versatility in a perfect, warm, cozy way. I’d love to blow all my dough on cashmere, angora, and wool coats this winter, but “all my dough” would get me maybe one sweater. One dog sweater.

sequin tank

This is seriously the “wildest” thing I’ve included in this entire post… The dark sequins on the dark grey look really, really elegant. It’s the perfect slinky, gauzy base for layering.

At first, I saw this and was unimpressed. It’s just a black, long-sleeved dress. Then, I envisioned it on with the sleeves rolled up, with a different belt, with a statement necklace… And with the coveted Wubby jacket over it. Now, I need it.

purple pleated mini

Not only am I ravenous for jewel tones once fall hits, but the a-line shaping of this skirt is really current, really flattering, and really versatile.

I tripped over these tall glasses of water while on my way to the virtual coat section. What a stunning pair of perfect, perfect boots (with good comfort ratings, too…).

Any time I see a camel overcoat, I immediately flash back to the late 50s and early 60s, when the most chic women would don one with perfectly fixed hair, a little black dress, and a Manhattan.

A little lighter in color, and I would have been all over this for my Dove Grey post a few days ago… Nevertheless, the shape and size of this bag (not to mention the buttery-looking material) have won my heart.

Do you have a guess? To find out the retailer behind these stunning pieces, click the cut below!

I typically think that most Old Navy pieces are … boring as hell, to be honest. But I was pleased at their selection when it came to creative layering pieces.

So, were you surprised? What do you think of Old Navy?

  • DEFINITELY surprised. I generally find Old Navy’s stuff to be either dull as dirt or targeted at preteens … but these are some great pieces. I’m especially enamored of those boots!

  • That bag is NOT from Old Navy. I want to go buy it right NOW.

  • What?! Wow. I’m shocked. I love that bag, and the jacket, and the tank, and the coat, and…crap. I need to go shopping.

  • Wow. I’m absolutely shocked, again! I love that first tank (although I always worry that those tops with bands at the bottom will make me look like I’m pregnant), and the coat, and the purple skirt, and the boots…the boots I’m especially shocked at, they don’t look faux leather at all!

Ugh, ON. I recognized the coat. I think most of their stuff falls apart as quickly as Forever 21. I actually think my H&M pieces last a bit longer…or at least look better even when they are rundown, than ON ones.
I wonder about that last coat, how useful is a heavy coat if it doesn’t cover your entire arm?

  • I’ve had pretty good luck with Old Navy. I usually only shop them when they have their super sales online. I just ordered a winter coat from them and I love it :)

  • Another great installment for this new blog feature, Miss Elle! I’m pretty surprised these pieces came from Old Navy. I like browsing once in a while to see if I can find a couple of affordable hidden gems there but I’ve been bored with what I’ve seen in recent months. You’re definitely inspiring me to take a second look.

  • I recognized the coat! The bag is so amazing, and I really like this “Guess Who” Series!

This is why I just love Old Navy. the other reason I love it, is shopping there is always a finically safe experience. I’m not going to fall in love with something and then gasp for air when I see the price tag.

Or buy something detrimental to my bank account, gas tank, or grocery money.

these are so elegant and beautiful, that first tank is perfect for a new year’s party!

  • Rose

The moment I saw that skirt I knew that it was Old Navy. And what do you know, I was right! Old Navy has a lot of skirts with similar silhouettes to that one. Wow, I just went through a very difficult time spelling silhouette.

I agree on finding it hard to find items that stand out in Old Navy, but I’m noticing more and more. Perhaps they’re improving?

  • Rose: I certainly hope so!! They’ve just been so… blah for the last few years. I hope they’re turning around!

    Good job on the guess!!
