How Embarrassing… I need those boots!
Posted on 07.27.09 to $100 and under by LindsayI’ve been struggling with my vehement disapproval regarding the sartorial choices of one Chloe Sevigny for months. The high-waisted mom jeans cut into daisy dukes. The crop tops and blatant misuse of “cut-outs”. Wearing vintage seemingly just for the sake of wearing vintage. All of these things are unacceptable to me, fashionably. Don’t get me wrong – I have nothing personal against her (how could I? We’ve never met…) but if, months ago, I had to guess about the end result of her collection of shoes for Opening Ceremony… I would be a little frightened. I likely would have envisioned some type of penny loafer, perhaps with a chunky, awful heel. Perhaps some granny boots, or the like…
…But certainly not these Gods of footwear:

Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Multi Buckle Wedge Booties – ….cough$625cough…
I know, I know – so grossly expensive. But they are literally perfect. I love the interest added by the western-inspired buckle tips, the easy 4″ heel (only easy because of the 3/4″ platform in front), the open center which allows peeks of skin to shine through…
They’re just wonderful. They’re also almost completely un-findable – gals have been on the pre-order list since its closing day of May 20th. They’re available at ShopBop (linked above in the photo) in only a size 8.5…
But who fricking cares?!! They’re over $600. That’s only slightly less than my rent – and I’m not going to live on the street with one pair of shoes… Sorry. And if I did, they wouldn’t be 4″ heels. They’d at least be flats or sneakers or something.
You guys all know that I’m dead set against knockoffs, which would be the typical next move for the fashion obsessed, but inspired designs are okay with me – provided they’ve left the trademark details of the original out. Once you start using western buckles and the exact number of straps, etc… That’s when I start getting annoyed.
So here is a much more affordable, inspired design I’ve found:
Love these Vivacity sandals by Boutique 9. They’ve got the same multi-strap feel, but without the wedge and hardware. Plus, they’re a touch more affordable at $59.99 (were $149). The only problem: Hello, 4.5″ heel with no platform. Ouch.
What do you think of the Chloe Sevigny boots? Love ‘em, hate ‘em? Let me know in the comments.

[...] boots, a semi-blatant “inspired-by” stemming from my boots of passion and choice, Chloe Sevigny x Opening Ceremony buckle boots… But they’re hot, admit it. Plus, they’re in “trendy” because, no, [...]

I’m a fan of the style (but I think she even knocked off the style from someone? Didn’t Chloe do a very similar shoe?); Jeffrey Campbell did a great version of the boot, and without having the insane price tag attached!

Totally with you on these: They’re STUNNING. Also like the Boutique 9 version, though – a durned decent stand-in, I believe!

I do like them! I wouldn’t pay $600 for them though, that’s for sure. They’re not THAT much awesome. Ashe is right, Jeffrey Campbell did a pretty similar version; I don’t think it has the western-ish buckles though.

Love them… but, like everyone else, probably wouldn’t spend $600 on them.
Okay, I definitely wouldn’t. ![]()

Love them. Did you see these similar ones by Jeffrey Cambell for a bit more than the Nine West ones?
