Love Love Love your list! I'm inspired to make my own.

1. Handbag: So with you there! I can never find one to suit all my needs and be cute at the same time.

2. Coat: I am a huge advocate of splurging on an amazingly luxe coat. Winter is like 8 months long in Chicago, so it's worth the investment. My coat has silver lining, velvet, and decorative trim (oh my!).

3. Pumps: I second whoever mentioned Nine West. I have a pair of simple brown mary jane pumps that are comfortable, yet I always get compliments on them. They have lasted over a year so far and I think they will last much longer.

6. Boots: Have you considered this style? http://chicagosgotstyle.com/2009/12/01/modern-victorian-in-the-south-loop/
Ok, so they technically aren't snow boots, but I have a pair like them and they stand up to the weather pretty well!

Ok, non-snow boot snow boots. I trudged all over Chicago today -- up then down the Mag Mile, across the loop, through my unshoveled neighborhood -- and these kept my feet dry and warm: Timberland Lexiss

Ok, that is the world's ugliest link. These boots don't have any particular lining (e.g. sheepskin or fleece), but they are seriously waterproof. That and the wind-stopping powers of leather boots take you a long way toward warm without looking like a sorority girl or the michelin man. Granted, I'm the weirdo who wears skirts 365 but after today I'd say these are my pick.

P.S. Miss Elle - I tried them on in the store and went up one size bigger than my normal dress size. Depends on your preferences. I don't like my jeans fitting skin tight.
