First Look: Lela Rose for Payless

I admit that, in the past, I haven’t been wholly impressed with Lela Rose’s Payless line. It’s always seemed like it was for an older, more conservative shoe maven – not a lot of risks being taken, pretty dull color palette… But after seeing Rose’s Spring/Summer runway (namely the shoes that were stomping down it), I may stand corrected.

BOOM – correction made. These are the most glorious offerings I’ve seen from Lela Rose during her tenure at Payless. i love the dignified tweed fabrics mixed in with the ultra-modern, graphic wood heels on the last pair. The orange and the filigree-like heel are just magical. The height of these are far from conservative – I’m used to seeing 1.5″ Lela Rose kitten heels whenever I head into a Payless, or at least some 3″, super patent, basic heels. That was the best I usually expected.

These, on the other hand… I need to own.

I just hope they don’t get super toned down a la Christian Siriano’s Payless collection last year.

And just for funsies, here are some highlights from Lela Rose’s runway:

What do you think of the Lela Rose for Payless offerings?

Update: These gorgeous shoes will hit stores in February!

  • Oh those are wonderful! Let’s hope they don’t drop the heel height to a dowdy 2 inches!

  • I am dying over the last pair. Thank god we don’t wear the same size, or we’d have to fight over them.

  • lovely lovely lovely! I agree! I hope we don’t get the watered down payless verison! Great PICS!

  • I really like these wedges – and that’s saying a lot, because usually I hate wedges. Crossing my fingers they stay very closely styled to how they appear here!
