The New Black

When I was a kid, I always wanted a cool nickname.  In fact, I was one of those kids that tried to force a nickname out of desperation…until I realized that was dumb and, luckily, stopped before anyone made fun of me for it.  (Thank God.)  So, my entire life, I’ve been either Jennifer, Jenny or Jen.  I’m still either Jennifer (work), Jenny (family) or Jen (friends) everywhere I go.

But at least I get three names out of my given one.  Black, I’m noticing, gets nothing but itself.

Anzevino & Florence Racerback Cut Out Dress in Black.”  Makes sense.

Anzevino & Florence Racerback Cut Out Dress in Heather.”  Huh.  That looks like pink to me.  Or peach.  But not Heather.  Heather is gray, right?

Oh, heather!

Oh wait.

I see this way too often: all the other colors get cool nicknames, which often have nothing to do with their color, and black is just…black.

Poor black.

So I want to give some of these garments – black garments! – new names.

Barlow Leather Dress in Black Dahlia
$321 $117

Alexander Wang Stretch Netting Skirt in Black Anise Seed
$755 $241

Mia Biscuit in Black Charcoal
$95 $45

BB Dakota Rebecca Top in Black Licorice
$53 $12

baRila Mod Dress in Black Grease

Much better.  Also very cheap – these are all from Reverse, a sale site spin-off of Revolve Clothing. Lindsay introduced me and gave me her coupon code – if you don’t have a Revolve Clothing account, you’ll need one to sign up. I just spent approximately three hours adding fifty or so things to Wishpot, so I recommend it.
