If you have a New Year’s resolution to do more cooking at home (which will save you bundles of cash, by the way! Do it! [Mom!]) and you are a music fanatic like me, then this subscription box is about to blow your damn mind.

Turntable Kitchen is the most adorable, perfect idea I’ve seen in a long time. Combining my literal two favorite things, music & food, and creating a subscription box? Pure genius.

Each month, Turntable Kitchen will deliver to you one delightful box containing a limited edition 7″ vinyl record (need an affordable & cute record player?) from a featured artist, access to a downloadable mixtape, themed recipes, and a couple of ingredients or spice mixes (dried) to help you whip something up in the kitchen! They also include cool information about the food and tidbits about the music! So pretty much the perfect staying-in-with-friends experience.

The idea blossomed from San Francisco-based Kasey & Matthew Hickey, who wanted to combine their love of music with their love of food in a new & adorable way. Kasey is responsible for food tidbits while Matthew helms the musical submissions and curation. What resulted was an adorable charming subscription box that leaves you with lifelong mementos of fabulous, home-cooked meals with friends. What more could you possibly ask for out of a mail-based service?

Turntable Kitchen

The cost is a little higher than your average beauty box, but it’s obviously worth it! (Queue diatribe about how important having music on vinyl is, etc., etc.) $25/month is the current going rate. This seems pretty average for food-focused subscription boxes. I mean, Julep (the nail subscription box) is $20/month, and you can’t even eat it! Turntable Kitchen also has a cool feature that allows you to give a Turntable Kitchen box (one month or three months) as a gift! No repeating charges, you’re off the hook!

Plus, the friend you give it to has to feel obligated to have you over for dinner now, right? If that’s not how it works, it should be.

Let me know if you sign up, I’d love to know how your experience is! They’ve been featured by The Kitchn and SAVEUR… The reviews are pretty consistently good! With food and music, how could you go wrong?

Probably watching Netflix.
