You know where I like to do my nails? In bed. In fact, I like to spend as much time in bed as possible. The ironic part? I hate sleeping. I am all about the comfort of bed. Everything worth doing can easily be done from the largest pillow in your house: leaning up against the wall and watching TV, curling up with a magazine, laughing until you fall over, furiously typing for hours at a time… and doing my nails.

Do Your Nails in Bed with Cutex

I swear this post isn’t sponsored by Cutex or anything, but they did just send a box full of polish removing wonders that I didn’t know existed (individual nail polish remover napkins?!?) and I’m having too much fun playing with them lately.

Let me say, though, that the Cutex Baseworx filler is a pretty awesome, manicure-extending base coat. It says that it’s “smoothing” but I recently buffed my nails and I can see my own reflection in them, so any smoothing that is happening is going unnoticed. It’s only $7.99, but I wouldn’t wear Baseworx on its own… My nails ended up chipping and splitting a little bit! Add a topcoat if you want the slight tint benefits. I think it’s a bit drying.

Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Pads

The aforementioned nail polish removing pads had to be put to the test. I had the cutest manicure to take off, and it was an emotional struggle. I used the Cutex Baseworx on my nails when I painted them, which I swear made it last an extra 4 days or so… But like all other manicures, it chipped and flaked and broke my heart(s).

Heart Shaped Manicure

I had little short nails and these hearts made me feel super girly even though I had stubs for claws.

Shockingly enough, it only took me one side of one Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Pad to remove an entire hand of multi-coat, multi-color, intense topcoat polish. Needless to say, I was impressed. (Though, don’t be fooled – these pads are about as “natural” as bakelite, but they do have some nice ingredients like flaxseed oil and black currant oil.)

Individual Nail Polish Remover Pad Review

That looks… absolutely terrible.

Anyway, it took off my dark red base and left no traces of it. I’m not usually a fan of individually wrapped things because they’re super wasteful (packaging) and you usually end up spending more money for product, overall. But stashing a few of these in my makeup bag or purse sounds way more smart than stupid.

Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Pads come in boxes of 10 for $3.99. It’s not a bad investment if you consider building a beauty emergency kit – complete with these pads, cotton swabs, clear polish, hairspray, concealer… You never know when you’re going to need something ASAP. I have a beauty emergency kit in my purse at all times!

Butter London Yummy Mummy

I used (a well-loved bottle of) Butter LONDON Yummy Mummy and tried/failed to create a cute, impressive nail art design with my cool nail brushes, but ultimately removed all of it, covered the Yummy Mummy with a matte topcoat and called it a day. Sigh.

Luckily, in all that whirlwind of creative disaster, I discovered an excellent second use for the nail polish remover pads.

Once I was done removing the polish from my nails, I folded it back up and placed it back in the wrapper. It then became perfect for cleaning nail art brushes.

Use Nail Polish Remover Pads to Clean Brushes

A few swishes around, and some shaping (making sure that the wet, clean brush is shaped into its original brush tip shape), and the brush was perfectly clean. Awesome!

As I wander this Pinterest-paved road towards learning how to do my own nails, I am pleased to know that the drugstore has my back. These tools of the trade might not be the most luxurious, but they’re definitely effective and affordable, and until I am making bank off having great nails, I’ll stick to the perfectly acceptable stuff in the drugstore.

Does anyone else do their nails in the same place every time? There’s just something about beds that scream “all day comfort…”

Probably watching Netflix.
