Floral nail art manicures have been perfected within the last couple years, thanks largely in part to picture-perfect nail wraps. The rest of the responsibility, though, falls onto the shoulders of nail artists, both professional and amateur, as they have upped their skills mightily. Now, if you can’t freehand a bunch of roses and daffodils onto your millimeters-wide nail bed, there are tutorials are heartbreakingly beautiful inspiration photos all over the internet.

I have tried my hand at floral nail art once or twice — to say I was still a beginner would be a complete understatement. Thank goodness for Pinterest & YouTube, both of which make it impossible to feel helpless!

There are tons of different floral interpretations, of course, but here are some of my favorites:

Floral Nail Art Tutorials

Okay, now how the #@^$ do you do that? First, I would highly recommend grabbing an inexpensive nail art brush kit like this one I bought for myself. It’s only $15, and it has 15 brushes and dotting tools included. Pretty much everything you could possibly need to get it did. There are tutorials that don’t require actually tools and use toothpicks or the bottle brush (see below!), but the tools are great to have around for all kinds of detail work.

Yeah, you’ll need to practice a lot and your first few sets of floral nail art will probably look a lot more like technicolor spaghetti stains than flowers, but after a while, they’ll start to take shape. Patience & humor!

Here are some excellent, masterful YouTubers who have the floral nail art trend down:
