We’re all aware of the fact that there are some desserts out there from our childhood that just make us smile, and old memories come flooding back. Of course, as kids we never had to worry about calories either; however, as adults this is a tad bit more important as we need to watch both our weight and completions. As adults, some of us don’t have time to enjoy the treats of our youth and opt to go to places like the Sunflour Baking Company to bring back these childhood memories.
One of the most memorable desserts out there is raw cookie dough. Even though we know we’re not supposed to eat it because it has raw egg it, many of us dive in because it’s oh so good! Although we may think of how we could still incorporate this delicious desert into our diets we have to stay on the adult side of things.
The good news is, thanks to the discovery of alternative healthy sugars and reduced-fat foods, we can still have this awesome desert on the cheap without risk of salmonella while being low fat, which is a win-win situation. So what are the benefits, and how do we make this dessert? Today, we’ll dive right into it!
Stevia vs Sugar, Nature to the Rescue

Stevia grows in itself grows in nature, but so does sugar cane. The problem we have with commercial sugars is that they have been refined over the years, and so it becomes a dense food that takes up calories, raises blood pressure, and is easily converted into fat when taken in excess.
Stevia, much of the time, isn’t refined and packs a powerful punch of sweetness to that of normal table sugar. Stevia also doesn’t have any calories, helps to suppress addictive sweet cravings, and is actually good for your teeth. Stevia also is diabetes friendly as it doesn’t raise the blood sugar like that of table sugar, and regulates hypertension as we’ve seen this done with South American Indian tribes.
Recipe for Guilt-Free Cookie Dough

As a note, this recipe is intended for making and eating and not baking. It lacks the right ingredients to be made successfully into chocolate-chip cookies.
- 6 Tbsp. Stevia
- 2 Tbsp. Apple Juice or Cider
- 4 Tbsp. Light Butter-Softened
- 10 Tbsp. Whole Wheat White Flour
- ¼ Tsp. Sea Salt
- ¼ Tsp. Vanilla Extract
- 1 Tbsp. Skim Milk
- 4 Tbsp. Dark Chocolate Chips
Combine the stevia, sugar, and butter together until they are creamy. Add in the flour, salt, vanilla and milk and stir until well combined. Lastly, stir in the dark chocolate chips and refrigerate for at least an hour before eating.
We don’t have to think that all of our favorite desserts from our childhood are gone. With modern-day advancements, we enjoy the sweets from our youth, but they just are a healthier for us to take away the guilt that we can enjoy ourselves from time to time.
