Dedicated: From Scratch Cards to Exploding Kittens – How to Organise a Games Night for Non-Gamers

If you fancy a break from boozy parties or fashion shows but need an excuse to invite your gals round for a get-together, a games night is a fun alternative to the traditional reasons for hosting a gathering. Now, your friends may not be interested in surrounding a television screen and playing multiplayer console offerings, but there are plenty of other things that are ideal for non-gamers to play and enjoy. All of these games are easy to learn and highly entertaining. Of course, you may want to accompany them with a few cocktails to help enhance things a bit.

Exploding Kittens

Exploding Kittens has only been out since 2015, but it is already taking the world by storm. It’s a card game for 2-5 players, designed by Elan Lee and Martin Vizcaino and published by The Oatmeal. There was so much hype around the game when it was first announced, that it found 6000 investors and set the record for most backers in Kickstarter history. To play the game, players each draw four cards and a defuse card. Players take it in turns to play as many cards as they want from their hand before drawing from the deck, and each card has a special function. For instance, if a player draws an Exploding Kitten card they are eliminated from the game. But if they have a Defuse Card they can use that to place the Exploding Kitten back into the deck in a position of their choice.

Scratch Cards

A great bonding experience for many people is to start a lottery syndicate and pitch in for a set of tickets for a weekly draw. If the numbers come in, the members of the syndicate then share the winnings and often live the high life together. If you don’t want to wait for numbers to be drawn on TV, you could do the same thing with scratch cards. There are a couple of ways to go about this. You could either go to a shop to buy a load of physical cards, or you could go online and make the most of scratch cards from online casinos where promotions are offered. On the internet, you can find plenty of options for good deals. For instance, when players join up with Royal Vegas, they get a $1200 bonus, and Casino Room offers a $200 deposit match offer.

Another idea would be to set up a game of Telestrations, which can be played with up to twelve players. The game, which requires players to roll the dice to get a word and then sketch it before the timer runs out, has previously won awards for Best New Party Game, and Party Game of the Year. This is guaranteed to generate laughs aplenty, and hilarity is sure to ensue every time you open it up.

Of course, there are numerous other ways to have fun with your guests. Cards Against Humanity is another hugely popular wordplay game, while traditional card games like Hearts and Queens always go down a treat.
