FAQ

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) are presented here for you newbies and nosy people who want to know exactly how this site runs (code omitted). Here you will find answers to the questions I receive most regarding the site, and if they don’t help, you’re screwed.

Just kidding. If they don’t help, please e-mail me so I can give you the answer you long for.

Miss Elle, are you an alcoholic?

Nope!

Then what’s with all the cocktails?

Well, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy my varietal array of cocktails on a semi-regular basis… But the cocktails are there to differentiate the different “brackets” of budgeting.

This is a gin and tonic. It’s my all-time favorite mixed drink because a) it’s sweet as it can be and b) it’s cheap as can be! It signifies the “lowest” bracket of budgeting which is products between $1 and $75.
This is a Mai Tai. I think they are gross, but they’re still fancier than a gin & tonic, so they happily represent the second bracket of budgeting, including products from $76 to $125. Okay, they’re not gross. They’re just… too sweet for me. Sorry, Mai Tai.
This is a …fancy drink. I forgot what it’s actually called, but just by looking at it you can tell it’s sassy and fancy and gorgeous - much like the bracket of budgeting it accompanies; the range of $126 to $200. Flouncy, flouncy…
This is a Ritz Carlton. Much like its namesake hotel/residence, it’s heller expensive and heller luxurious. This is the precise reason that it goes along with every product over $201, and you may need a drink after you spend that much, anyway.

So there you have it. The almighty table of recognition.

Okay… But isn’t something that’s $200 not exactly… budget-friendly?

Ah, yes. This question is a popular one! As such, it has a very simple explaination. I focus on quality. If there’s a gorgeous, structured, artisian blouse with the most beautiful color and exquisite tailoring… Chances are good that its not going to be $35. Does that mean I cannot have this piece of art? This fine garment? No! Of course I can have it! You’re completely allowed to make investments into classic pieces and unique pieces that will either never go out of style, or tug on your heart strings a bit. Do I recommend setting your entire wardrobe up, based on these pieces alone? Absolutely not - you’ll be living in a cardboard box! But $200 for a designer (read: high quality and artisian) garment? Pff… That’s a bargain in itself.

Alright… So what’s the big deal about designer clothing?

As I stated before, it’s all about quality and art. Vivienne Westwood may be knocked off 1,000,000 times by Forever 21 or Hot Topic, but owning a true Vivienne Westwood garment is going to give you satisfaction years after that F21 knockoff fell apart at the seams. Designer clothing isn’t materialism, it’s addiction to quality.

So designer clothing = quality… Got it.

No, no! Not always. I know, confusing, right? “Designer” and “Quality” are not always synonymous! I suggest that, if you’re planning on purchasing designer clothing, do your research beforehand. Find out what the garment is made from (polyester vs. cotton), where it’s made (Chinese sweatshops vs. Italian design houses), and, if possible, read other bloggers’ reviews of whichever line is tickling your fancy. Don’t be afraid to ask me, either! I live for this stuff.

Okay - got it. So how do I know if I can trust some of the more inexpensive stuff on your site?

Well, I’m a pretty trustworthy person. I only promote and advocate clothing that I truly believe in. Yes, I do put some Forever 21 basics and trendy items in articles occasionally, but I’ll usually explain the reasoning for doing so. If I don’t, its a safe bet that I’m probably including cheaper clothing because they’re extra trendy and fad-tastic (meaning when they fall apart in 6 months, the trend will be over anyway), or they’re just basics that don’t get a lot of wear and tear.

Where do you shop most often?

Well, I spend a LOT of time at Marshall’s, as well as online. I follow the sales at Bluefly, ShopBop, and Endless on a regular basis. I have an addictive personality. =) I also do a lot of bidding at “eBags.\
