This is the Strawberry Fields Wedge. I have been eating strawberries for the last week, straight – making parfaits, making oatmeal, making pancakes, making strawberry bread… It’s already summer in the Seattle area and damnit, Global Warming, I’m not going to let you bring me down! I am going to enjoy the nice parts of you and hope that makes you less likely to smite us in the future… Think positive, Global Warming!

We got the tip off on these wedges from our friend Jennifer (#2), and have completely become enamored with how much summertime energy they exude! I mean, even the stitching on the bow looks like the texture of strawberry skin (the stitches being the tiny seeds on the outside), and the raffia wedge just makes me think of the baskets I used to use when I went strawberry picking as a kid. It doesn’t hurt that this wedge is my absolute favorite strap style – not quite an ankle strap & not quite a mary jane! Not only is it the most universally flattering for legs (in my opinion), but it’s also the most comfortable!

So I have a penchant for pants that speak louder than words.

Brightly colored, bedazzled, polka dot, plaid… Anything but tie-dye. (It died for a reason, people, let it go!) (…Okay, hold on, these are kind of cool.)

I like most pants that you could wear with a plain, white, v-neck and a basic jacket and totally look & feel awesome in. My preferred cut is Skinny or Straight Leg, but what I love about loud pants is that they come in almost all shapes & sizes! Plus, for thrill-seekers (like me), there are numerous patterns and styles to challenge your style with. Fun everywhere, forever.

I am an unabashed lover of this style of clutch. Floppy, simple, and with that clever wrist/hand strap that offers some extra security when you’re literally toting the damn thing around all night/day. This leather model is particularly saucy as I love the teal & grey combination (though it does come in a vibrant fuchsia/brown combo which is also gorgeous), and the leather construction adds a ton of luxury feel. It’s even fully lined, with an inside pocket!

Let’s cut to the chase: we messed up. Again.

Yet another Monday goes un-wedgied, and you’re right, this is unacceptable. How is one supposed to manage this life without a weekly, scheduled dose of delicious wedge candy? You’re not. No one should have to endure that, and for this, we are eternally sorry.

Fortunately, we were able to dig up this bright & fine specimen in hopes that it will brighten your day, as well as your opinion of our posting consistency… Not a bribe, I swear! Just a peaceful display of our gratitude for your patience.

I’m completely nuts over this cut.  I think it’s super flattering while still being really versatile and a little edgy (but mostly really fluid).  As you can see, I think about this semi-frequently.  I love high-low!  What can I say?

PS… They’re also being called “mullet skirts” which apparently makes them cooler?

Maxi Skirt

You may find yourself becoming moderately dependent upon maxi skirts due to their pants-free nature and tendency to feel exactly like pajamas… And that’s okay, since there are several of them available right now, and they happen to be very en vogue. Yeesh, I’ve never said that phrase before, and I didn’t like it. I don’t think I’ll do it again. Now my mouth tastes like soulless print media, or an Ask E. Jean column.

Jen and I went to Old Navy a few days ago to check on their everything. It’s always such an awesome place to go because the prices are so comforting, and the construction isn’t crappy. We peeked at three out of the four maxi skirts above, and wholly approve! (The patterned one is particularly cute, in person…)

A Flouncy Skirt of Sorts

Everyone needs a flouncy, vibrant summer skirt that will send some cooling breezes straight to the thighs on a hot summer day. I am heavily drawn to patterned styles lately, while Jen is craving something long, and solid-colored to augment her summer wardrobe. Whatever happens – let it be girlish, somewhat voluminous, and totally fun. Pair it with boots, sandals, sneakers, sweatshirts, sheer tanks, a bathing suit… Whatever! As flouncy as your judgement during a summer fling, that’s all that matters.
