Comfort Does Not = Ugly!

A common reaction from “fashion forward” people who have just heard the phrase “comfort shoe” is typically a disgusted look followed by a sentence including the word “orthopedic”.

I’ve set out to periodically show you the best “comfort shoes” for the fashionable woman. These shoes are great for walking, commuting, shopping days, or just looking good – you’d never believe they were “comfort shoes“…

The Best Flat

indigo by Clarks Pallino Flat
$79.95 $34.50 – $67.96

These win because they’re flexible, cute, and they come in 11 colors. Yeah. (I like the “Metallic Copper” color, personally.)

The Office Shoe

Naturalizer Portfolio Pump
$74.95 $58

Suuuuper versatile, but not totally boring.

The Party Shoe

LifeStride Channing Dress Shoe
$42.95 $21.34

Hi! Retro, comfortable, eye-catching – perfect party shoe!

The Cute Wedgie

Naturalizer Kilowatt Open-toe Wedge
$69.95 $34.72 – $38.47

I love the criss-cross strap… And I have a thing for cork wedges – I know, I’m totally stuck in 2003.

The Bootie

indigo by Clarks Wembley Pump
$99.95 $54.97

Back to the basics of booties. Simple shape, simple color, good height… It’s all about the basics!

The Saucy Date Shoe

Aerosoles Role Play Tailored Mary Jane
$89.95

These come in a grey/taupe combo that would make it virtually impossible to feel anything less than totally saucy.

The Best Boots

Naturalizer Stunned Boot
$109.95 $85.08

These would be great beneath a dress for city girls! I love the equestrian vibe the top seam gives off.

Believe in comfort with style, ladies!

xoxo.

  • I will throw in an endorsement for the Band-Aid blister stick stuff. A lot of my shoe discomfort comes from rubbing and raw spots, even in wide-sized or comfort shoes, but this product does a pretty amazing job of fixing the situation. I put it on even under tights or hose and it helps. I've heard that it's basically the same product as what runners put on their nipples to prevent chafing; I dunno if buying at a sporting goods store is cheaper but I would definitely recommend trying it.

  • Again, great picks! I'm all for comfort plus style, especially in a high heel. I have a pair of two-tone T-strap heels I bought from Next in London; it was part of their Sole Reviver line. They're the most comfortable heels I've ever owned and the ones I'm not afraid to wear for 12 hours at a time!
