Just a mere 8 months ago, I sat comfortably in the “I Hate Shorts” zone. Now, I’m living in a city where heat is supposed to reign in once it hits July – and all I can fet out of it is a measly 72 degrees. One might think that, for a shorts-hater – this would be paradise. Untrue! I’m so thirsty for summer, and heat, and Midwestern blisters that I’m wearing shorts all around the house with the windows closed to just imagine what it might feel like. I’m laying on my couch, currently covered with a black satin slipcover (read: old sheets), imagining the entrance of fall, and all the black tights + shorts combos I want to create, wearing them with blazers and platform pumps…
SO WHERE IS THE FLIPPIN’ HEAT, CHICAGO!?
I might be disappointed, but I’m not disenchanted. Right now, my obsession with shorts is feasting on delicious bubble shorts.
Wayne Bubble Short Shorts in Print – $160
I know, they sound terrifying, but I absolutely adore the silhouette. They’re like a classy, retro combination of bloomers and hot pants… What could be better than that?
I’m kind of iffy on the pleats, when it comes to actual wearability, but everything else is just dreamy. The dressiness, the unique hem, the comfy-looking spaciousness that accompanies their billowy shape.
Johnson ‘Louise’ Shorts – $83.99 (was $264)
Really, I’m pretty much interested in any kind of semi-formal shorts. The bubble shorts are on my mind lately mostly at the fault of Laura Dawson, as you can see here. They were the first bubble shorts I laid my eyes on, and the image has been permanently burned into my lust-lobe ever since.
War and Peace Satin Bubble Short – $68
I envision an ensemble with a simple color palette – the outfit created with bubble shorts included mustn’t be a fussy one. Perhaps a simple, v-neck t-shirt and a pair of strappy, stacked-heel sandals would do the trick… Or a ruffle-front, sleeveless blouse with some basic, patent, round-toe pumps… Summer date nights, here I come.
If you’re not sure, and looking just to try these bad boys out before getting some of the pricier versions, there are some A|X Bubble Shorts on sale for only $29.

I love bubble shorts too but i can rarely find a pair that fits the way I want! The purpose of the bubble short is to looked relaxed and comfortable but still neat and fresh, right? but how can you look neat and fresh when the fabric is pulling at the butt or the thighs are just a teeny bit too tight?
I am extremely interested in hearing if any of these shorts winds up being the perfect bubble short because i want them SO bad but cant seem to find the perfect pair. The closest I have come has been a pair from target which i had to buy three sizes bigger than my usual size in order to get the right look.

Oh dear. I'm quite certain these would make me look like I am hiding beach balls in my pants.

I am liking them too, not sure how they work on bigger legs but it may be good.

Those satin bubble shorts are sooo freaking cute! I have big thighs though so I don't think I should wear bubble shorts...
