I know I just finished hating hard on the whole “homeless” look, but I think that the idea of fingerless opera gloves, or whatever you want to call them, are SO appealing! I’d wear them under 1/2 and 3/4 sleeve jackets, or kimono-sleeve… anything!
I think that I would stray from the chunky-knit ones, though… I want to keep them as “evening glove” looking as possible. Once they get chunky, they get less versatile (and a touch more bum-like, too), so a cozy, thin wool would be PERFECT! Or, if it’s mild outside, even jersey would be fine – I just love the way they look.
I think they’re only an emerging trend, as they’re REALLY difficult to find online! I think I only found a few pairs that matched up with my criteria. There were a whole lot of long-ish gloves that were cute – but didn’t reach the elbow, like I want.
Here’s what I found:
Zero & Maria Cornejo Fingerless Gloves
$69
Of COURSE, the ones I pick as my favorite are the ones that are almost $70. That’s just my luck. But can you blame me? I LOVE the orange color – actually, all the colors they have to choose from are great! I would slide these orange puppies underneath the cropped sleeves of a moss-green swing jacket – oh yes. Or the purple ones beneath a light blue trench… Oooh! I want, I want, I want!
Long Fingerless Gloves from Sock Dreams
$13
Sock Dreams… They’re such an amazing company, so of course they’d have the most affordable gloves ever, that are thin knit and perfect. The color options are a bit limited, but hey – they’re $13, for Heidi Fleiss’ sake. They come in the Mallard Green (above), Fire Engine Red and Holiday Red (a difference? I can’t see one). But, they also have the very similar Black Fingerless Gloves and these, which are totally not long, fingerless gloves, but I NEED THEM, STILL:
Fingerless Rhinestone Fishnet Glove of GREATNESS!
$13
Now, back on topic…
Nordstrom Long Fingerless Gloves (CASHMERE!!)
$48 $23.90
On top of the fact that they’re CASHMERE!!, these are thin-knit, have a little bit MORE of a finger left than some other gloves, which is nice for warmy-ness, and are the perfect length. What’s not to love? I mean, they’re on sale!
So, what do you think of this idea – am I crazy? Have I totally lost it? Or are you just as smitten as I am? (PUN!)
xoxo.

Ooh, I've had such good experiences ordering from Sock Dreams. Great company! I think this looks a lot more Breakfast at Tiffany's than hobo-chic, so I think you're safe :)

The sock dreams ones sound great! The only prob with the Nordstrom ones (which I own) are that if you don't take really good care of them they get very pill-y--you know with the balls all over them. Which sucks :)

Honest, I hate fingerless gloves. For some reason, they remind me of boho hobos... However, I am all in favour of long elbow-length cashmere gloves :)

I like them! They'd be great paired with sweaters and sweater dresses with short sleeves too.

You know, I totally get the practicality of fingerless gloves ... but my fingers get SO COLD I just don't think I could deal. LOVE opera length gloves, though. The kind with fingers. ;)
