Shoe Porn: Strapped

We are strapped in ever so many ways. Strapped for cash, strapped for time, strapped for enthusiasm. I like to take momentary straps very seriously.

Meet the Viking Buckle Boot. These spoke to me (softly, and sweetly) from the Reverse web store. They’re by one of my favorite shoe makers, MIA. My first pair of MIA shoes came from an OnlineShoes.com Warehouse sale about three years ago, and they are (to this day) some of the most comfortable shoes I own – these are no different.

As I age, my tolerance for non-platform heel height gets lower. I saw these, in all their no-platform glory, and thought “Man… 3.5” heels – can I do that? Without platforms? What about arch support? Walkability? I live on an enormous hill… Are these practical?” After I decided “No, Lindsay. They are not practical,” I wisely added them to my cart and checked out. The Tao of Lindsay.

I justified the purchase (i) because I loved them, (ii) because they are gray instead of black and gray is my favorite color, (iii) the 3.5″ is a 3.5″ wedge, and (iv) I’m dying to wear them with a maxi dress. DYING.

In all seriousness, these are going to be super versatile, come spring. I also don’t think they’d look half bad with socks/tights, dresses or shorts, jeans or fancy pants. The arch support, in the short time that I’ve had these, is astonishing in its effectiveness, and I can walk very, very easily.

Check out the MIA Viking Buckle Boot here (and an invite to Reverse is here). I got these for $34, but they’re even cheaper now at $29. Not bad, considering they retail for $66! And, yes… They come in black.

What would you wear with these bad boys?

Lindsay: Probably watching Netflix.

  • those are HOT. Good purchase, sometimes my favorite things are the most impractical.
I'd wear them with a pair of cuffed jeans and a button down shirt and shrunken blazer.

    • Ohhh, that is such a good idea. I was wearing skinny jeans today and, if I wasn't going to be walking across half the city today, I would LOVE to have worn them with the top buckle over the bottom of the jeans... do you think that would work? ANKLE PORN, am I right!?

  • What wouldn't I wear them with is the better question. They are a definite must for any flirty dresses/skirts and tights, at least until it warms up on the East Coast.

Oh, and "Are they practical? Of course not, I must have them!" is seriously my internal monologue each time I make a shoe purchase, but generally my shoes are not wedges (though I do love me a wedge) and much taller than 3.5". The best part about the entire situation is, I will teeter my impractical self around campus in my new purchase, simply because I'm stubborn.

  • These are fantastic! Love your internal dialog over how practical they are. I've had that same conversation with myself many times. Haha.

    • Chelsea: You. Are right. The more I stare at them, the more versatile they become.

Orphaned: I used to brush off that internal dialogue because it kept me out of hot, hot heels! Now, I'm old and have to think about it. :(

Wendy: Of course you would, you sassy minx!
