Yes, yes, it’s true! In the year 2012, Pantone decided that the most energetic, armed-and-radioactive orange called, endearingly, 17-1463… or Tangerine Tango was to be our Color Of The Year.
But this isn’t your average orange. It ain’t no pastel, or even any kind of weird, retro orange you’d find in Zooey Deschanel’s kitchen, oh no…
It’s the orange that bites you back.
It’s so orange that it’s almost coral, and you know how dangerous that stuff can be. Anyway, it’s super bright, and super-charged, and I can’t help but feel totally uplifted and revived when I’m around a large amount of Tangerine Tango. Awakened Aesthetic did a piece on orange eco-friendly style ideas, and I’m comfortable saying that I’m stealing the idea and putting my Broke & Beautiful twist on the whole idea.
1. MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela Dress
$69 at YOOX
This is such a versatile shape for a brightly colored, solid dress. You can throw a neutral sweater over the top of it, you can put a high-waisted maxi skirt over the bottom, play with blazers, belts, shirts, shoes… the works! (It’s stretchy, too, so it’s basically pajamas.)
2. J. Crew Jardin Skirt in Poppy
$69.50 at J. Crew (Reg. $88)
The length of this skirt is perfect for a right-on-your-waist application, and the a-line shape flatters pretty much any body type. (Extra bonus: this flouncy skirt is machine washable!)
3. Topshop Bow Skirt
$55 at Topshop
This hits right above the knee and is a dustier version of the tangerine color, so good for skeptics and people who puke at the sight of neon.
4. Single Plisse Halter Dress
$82.50 on Last Call’s eBay shop, or $110 on the Last Call site
I’m including both links because this dress is way too good to pass up – look how cute it is! It’s mind-boggling! Give me my Bitch Sunglasses, a top knot, some flip flops and an iced mocha and I’m set for the summer.
Sephora x Pantone Universe Color of the Year Collection: Tangerine Tango
$68 at Sephora
If you are really into this color, then this set is for you. It comes with eyeliner in Tangerine Tango Twist, an eyeshadow quad, a Prisma Chrome blush, blush duo, créme lipstick, and lip gloss.
1. Cynthia Rowley Calloway Bag
$99.99 at 6pm
This bag is so crazy with its color combination, but so seriously classic with its shape. I love anything paired with cream… It just makes every color look that much more charming.
2. Steve Madden Bethanyy Sandals
$69.95 at Steve Madden
I believe Jen owns these in this exact color… They’re such a great, basic shape, but that color will make them the most un-boring boring sandals you’ve ever had.
3. Seychelles Memories Of You Wedges
$90 at Zappos
I’m in love with the shape of these. They’re going to make anyone’s legs look good because of that little “v-neck” thing it’s got going on in the front, plus the height & color & texture… Yummy.
4. Topshop Binocular Case Bag
$60 at Topshop
This is for those of you who take retro to the hardcore level it deserves to be on.

Just wanted to say that I LOVE your blog. Its designed so beautifully and I appreciate how you list out all of the sources - I'll definitely be hanging around more :)
Awww, thank you so much! <3 You totally brightened my day! (Even though I'm like three days late, haha)
Yesssssssssssss. I loved that they chose this. I always detested bright colors but for some reason i'm super drawn to bright orange (Morange is one of my favorite lipsticks.) The Pantone collection from Sephora wasn't orange enough for me 8D; Can you believe it?
I've heard SUCH GOOD THINGS about Morange!!!
