Yeah, I’m going back to the edgy-leather-Daddy well for more slick & shiny options, this time for my pants. In my pants. On my legs. Whatever you want to call it.
I love the faux leather shorts thing, but I’m admittedly more of a pants & leggings person. Not just for comfort, but for versatility reasons. You can wear them under a dress, or a tunic, or wear them like pant-pants, or just wear them with your pajama shirt and high heels while watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians when you’re alone on a Saturday night. Everyone has their own thing.
Faux leather pants, though… They are so hit or miss. You can search for “Faux leather leggings” and I swear, 40% of the results are basically shiny, black spandex. “Liquid leather leggings?” Last I checked, liquid leather was not a thing that occurs in nature. Perhaps they meant “patent leather,” which is a thing, but I’ll let you know when I want patent leather leggings by typing in “patent leather leggings” into the search field. Ok? Ok. (Sometimes shopping a lot makes you real bitter, real fast.)
The other sad alternative is the tupperware-like PVC pants that have a matte sheen, and sound like a million tiny mice farting every time you take a step. Not interested. Anyone who knew me in middle school knows that I speak from personal experience. (That’s right, it’s me! Glow-in-the-dark vinyl pants girl!)
But if you dig through the sad bike-pants and bizarrely cut-up leggings, you’ll find some pieces that actually look like leather but don’t carry the leathery price tags.
Leggings
I define leggings as pocket-less, button-less leg sheaths. I want a pair because I feel like they look the best with tunic/dress-type things – better than pants or jeggings. I feel weird wearing a dress over pants because it’s not 2001.

Bop Basics Quilted Faux Leather Leggings, $88
labworks Faux Leather & Ponte Leggings, $25
Rock & Republic x Kohl’s Pieced Faux Leather Leggings, $33.60
Mossimo Faux Leather Leggings, $24.99
I am a big, big fan of the quilted leggings from Shopbop. They come, of course, with the heaviest price tag… but I can’t help but be drawn to them. I think the shoes they’re paired with may have something to do with it.
Jeggings & Treggings…?
Treggings. That is a word that is now forever emblazoned on my website, so I may as well just accept the fact that we have smashed together trousers and leggings to create something that sounds like an underwater industrial procedure.

Arden B. Side Zip Faux Leather Pants, $35.50
Boohoo Natasha High Rise Faux Leather Leggings, $40
BB Dakota Drea Pants, $88
TopShop Leather Look Skinny Treggings, $64
These, I think, would be awesome to wear with long, sheer things. They’re almost pants, but not so much pants that I want to wear a crop top about it.
Real Pants
Buttons! Pockets! Functional additions like belt looks and seams! These are just a few of the reasons I really would like to have a pair of these ASAP.

BLANKNYC Vegan Leather Skinny Pants, $92
MM Couture Faux Leather Pants, $88
NastyGal Chasing Night Skinny Jeans in HUNTER GREEN!!!1, $98
Vince Camuto 5-Pocket Faux Leather Pants, $89
My bias is clear. I just wish the prices were so much higher than the others! But for hunter green faux leather pants… I’m kinda thinking it’s worth it.

I impulsed purchased these http://tinyurl.com/m3h2gaz from Amazon after seeing them as a Racked recommendation. I'm a wimp and have yet to wear them outside yet, but I was really surprised at how much they look like leather for $15
Oh my gosh, $15?! That's a killer deal! I might have to snag them - I'll wear them if you will!
