A good sweatshirt is a rare encounter these days, especially given that 99% of sweatshirts tend to be one of two styles: long sleeves with hood or long sleeves without hood.
Also, the fabrics typically used in sweatshirt creation are pretty one-note and predictable. Oh, solid colors? What a surprise! About as spontaneous as a wall calendar.
Thank the gracious Gods of Macy’s for this cowlneck drawstring sweatshirt the defies the rigid rubric of most sweatshirt blueprints. This provides the same amount of comfortable exterior with something that lets you stand out from the sea of Fruit of the Loom hoodie clones.
I also love the extreme heather of this grey color. It adds a ton of texture and a ton more visual interest to an already lovely top. All of the tonal changes – the light grey on the inside of the cowl, the medium grey body and the dark grey cuffs and trim – make what should be a boring option (“grey sweatshirt”) into something that will get noticed and undoubtedly complimented for its special snowflake-ness.
