Looking Glass

Yesterday afternoon I lost track of time in Nordstrom Rack.

There were shelves and shelves of sunglasses, all on sale, and I couldn’t resist.

Sunnies in the kitchen.

The sunglasses are by Fossil, which a friend told me is going out of business, but as far as I can tell she’s a liar. In any case, I ain’t mad at Nordies for offering these $45 pink beauties for a measly $19.97.

I also recently purchased a pair of prescription lenses, and found out today that they’re ready to be picked up.

They’re my first – yes, I’m losing my glasses virginity – and I almost didn’t purchase them. I started with a mad-on for a pair of $500 handmade French frames (of course I did) and then realized that there was no way, even for a pair of glasses I’ll wear forever and never replace (yeah, right) that I could afford that amount of money.

So I kept looking.

I finally found these frames and fell in love – less in love than with the French frames, but every love is different and I don’t mind. They’re a boatload less, and I still got to try them on, in person, and make sure they looked good. (I’ll use Zenni Optical once I’m comfortable picking frames for my face.)

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’ve been into glasses lately.

Do you wear glasses?
What kind, and where did you get them?

If you don’t wear glasses, tell me about your sunnies – photos are worth extra points!

  • Love the shape of your new glasses! They can be such a great accessory.

I don't wear glasses (yet), but I never leave the house without my Maui Jim sunglasses. They are the best money I have ever spent on anything, ever. I used to think that I had a crooked face, because sunglasses always gave me a horrible headache. I can wear my Jims for hours and never even know they're on. And they look awesome.

  • If you want to try on glasses before you buy- WarbyParker.com has cute frames, and will send them to you to try before you purchase. Also, check out: Coastalcontacts.com. Lots and lots of frames, sunglasses etc... and they have free giveaways every couple of months. I got fabulous frames there for just the cost of shipping.

  • Personally, with the way the economy is going (down hill)> I want to make sure I get a GOOD pair of glasses. So many of these companies have their glasses mad in China where the quality is poor. Sure you can buy cheap but you get cheap.

I've used 39DollarGlasses.com and just love them. All of their glasses are made here in the USA and I got my excellent pair in just days, not weeks!
