#SmallBizSat is a Long Hashtag

…but that’s the hashtag they’ve been using since its invention in 2010, so I guess that’s what we’re going with!

Believe it or not, Small Business Saturday, which takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving, was started by mega-monster credit card company, American Express. Yeah! A big-ass company helping little people! Sure, they’ve registered the name Small Business Saturday, and offer you money if you use an American Express card to shop at “approved” small businesses… but it’s a good idea, nonetheless!

I’m a fan of Small Business Saturday as a reformed Black Friday promoter. For more about my ethics as a budget fashion blogger, check out my aptly named post: On Being An Ethical Budget Fashion Blogger.

Stay tuned over the next couple of days for some posts about my favorite independent, small businesses!

In 2020, her relationship with its content became tumultuous as she explored the ideas around sustainability, "ethical consumption," and supply chain transparency. After a subsequent identity crisis, she took 5 years off, and has returned to transform B&B from a fast-fashion-promoting, hyper-consumption machine into an active learning center promoting healthy shopping habits, environmental self-awareness, and independent artists & creators.
