Market Stalking: Loungewear-But-Not-Really

I am the creepy person in the grocery store that seems to be in every aisle that you are. I appear to be lost because I’ve passed you three or four times, and I’ve even dropped something near you just to slowly pick it up.

Market stalking. It’s one of my many unsung hobbies. I’m not so “dedicated” that I’m sneaking pictures of people (…yet?), but I will happily run into them 3-4 times if I’m absolutely in love with what they’re wearing.

On a late night almond milk run, I stumbled across a lovely lady in the spice aisle who blew me away. She was wearing elements of loungewear-inspired clothing… but all together, they looked like the opposite of loungewear. She looked so put together she could have defeated a Jenga tower just by being in the same room with it. She was rocking loungewear-but-not-really (which is, of course, the second best thing next to casual-but-not-really).

There were only three components to her outfit:

  • Lace-up wedges
  • Jeggings
  • Long sleeve, crew neck top

It basically is the perfect mixture of lace-up boots, leggings and a sweatshirt – three of the most comfortable things you could ever wear.

I don’t know how much hers were (her top looked like fancy-but-not-supposed-to-look-fancy cashmere), but I rounded up my own dream outfit.

Left to right: LA Made Mott Street Pullover ($45.99); Hive & Honey Striped Boatneck Sweater ($19.99); Hive & Honey Nautical Sweater ($19.99)

Left to right: Democracy Stretch Denim Leggings ($54); 917 Double Stitch Skinny Jean ($44.94); CJ by Cookie Johnson Praise Relaxed Jean ($90); DKNY Jean Leggings ($59).

Clockwise from top left: Oxford Wedge ($39.90); Style Squared Wedge ($37.99); DV by Dolce Vita Pilar Wedge ($94.95); DV by Dolce Vita Pure Wedges ($89); STEVEN by Steve Madden Women’s Narri Boot ($92.56); Kelsi Dagger Fortune Ankle Boot ($41.98).

What do you think of this style? Would you wear it? I would. Let’s be twins.

Probably watching Netflix.
