Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s

I’m typically loathe to post about celebrities, reality stars, or the crazies in between – but this is a rare occasion.

Lauren Conrad, a la The Hills & Laguna Beach, totally sucked at the whole “high fashion” thing, as her entire line was basically cut from the same piece of cotton jersey… She held the attention of the fashion community for about .4 seconds before completely bombing. That’s what happens when you run your company with your fame and, well, it disappears. Not trying to sell basics for $160 would help, too.

Anyway, she’s back now, but with a little bit of a… different business plan, and that business plan’s name is Kohl’s. Yes, quite the step down from the runway at LA Fashion Week. Or is it? (Heyooo!)

I was all ready to mock her capsule-collection-at-a-box-store situation as I headed over to Kohls.com. “LC Lauren Conrad“, it even has a little flash video of her being cute, with a little hand-sign “I love you” – awww. Doesn’t that remind us all how likeable she is? I’ve almost completely forgotten about her lack of design talent, and complete “I’m rich so I can do anything I feel like and probaby succeed” mentality.

Then I saw this:

LC Lauren Conrad Brushstroke Sheath Dress
$50

LC Lauren Conrad Watercolor Ruffled Dress
$60

Two… pretty decent offerings from the dress department. Unfortunately also the only offerings from the dress department, but I’m definitely humbled. I would absolutely wear the first one, and probably wear the second one if I was going to a garden party in Savannah, Georgia. Which probably won’t happen, but that’s a nice way of saying I wouldn’t wear it, yeah?

So, okay… Whether or not she designed this stuff is still debatable, but at least we know it’s not boring, solid, jersey pieces.

Aw, peas. Oh well. I guess you can lead the horse to water, but you can’t make it use any actual innovative design talent.

What do you think of this collection? Am I being too critical, or do you agree?

Probably watching Netflix.
