I admit that, in the past, I haven’t been wholly impressed with Lela Rose’s Payless line. It’s always seemed like it was for an older, more conservative shoe maven – not a lot of risks being taken, pretty dull color palette… But after seeing Rose’s Spring/Summer runway (namely the shoes that were stomping down it), I may stand corrected.

BOOM – correction made. These are the most glorious offerings I’ve seen from Lela Rose during her tenure at Payless. i love the dignified tweed fabrics mixed in with the ultra-modern, graphic wood heels on the last pair. The orange and the filigree-like heel are just magical. The height of these are far from conservative – I’m used to seeing 1.5″ Lela Rose kitten heels whenever I head into a Payless, or at least some 3″, super patent, basic heels. That was the best I usually expected.
These, on the other hand… I need to own.
I just hope they don’t get super toned down a la Christian Siriano’s Payless collection last year.
