Since I quit my corporate job, “Christmas party season” is exponentially slower. i don’t get to wear as many heels, check as many coats, or hit as many open bars… And I kind of miss it, honestly! Most often when I’m in a store and a shining, sparkling, “holiday” dress catches my eye. I literally don’t have any excuses to buy them! I could throw my own soirees, I suppose, but my apartment can barely hold two people, much less 20!
I’d officially given up hope on finding a reason to pick up a party dress this year… until I saw this Christian Dior dress on Emma Stone at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards:
Hello, my future girlfriend.
This is one instance where I don’t mind matchy-matchy when it comes to shoes. I’m not sure if it’s the rose-copper color or the really simple, uncomplicated placing of the sequin panels, but… I adore this dress. It might also be the sequined half-sleeves, as well! No, no… You know what it is? It looks like it feels like pajamas.
So, naturally, I need to find something minimal, sequined, and pajama-like for my zero Christmas parties to attend.
Aiden Mattox Sequin Dress | $50
It’s minimal in cut, but not really in any other way. I fell in love with the blousiness!
As U Wish Dress | $59 (+ free belt!)
Free belts. I’m a sucker for ’em.
Mark + James by Badgley Mischka Sequin Dress | $45
I’m not a white dress girl, but I know a lot of girls who are (maybe you!), and this was just too pretty not to include.
Jessica Simpson Sequined Dress | $49.99
I could see myself falling asleep in this, no problem.
Are party dresses even a real thing anymore? I’ve been out of the loop for so many years, I barely remember what it feels like to get all saucy for a party.
