I am not the girl who paints my nails with red and green polish. I do not pick out red/gold, silver/blue outfits to wear between Thanksgiving and the new year.

I am not festive.

This bums a lot of people out (grandparents, regular-parents, etc.). I don’t like any Christmas music that was made after 1960, decorating the tree gets boring after about 4 minutes, and my least favorite color combo ever is red and green. It just gives me the icks.

But this all makes me sad. A part of me inside (to the left of the bitter, cold heart) wishes I were the type that got into all that stuff. I’d love to be the annoying niece at the family get-together who made red velvet cupcakes with mint frosting with everyone’s initials in non pariels… Sad, right? No one wants to be the Margot Tenenbaum of Tannen..baums..?

Anyway. I decided to try to will myself out of sartorial Scrooge-ness and jumped on a near-capacity bandwagon by picking up some bright red Saucy Red Rockstar Skinny Jeans from Old Navy. Slapped them on with some colorless plaid socks, and mary janes.

I think this is as festive as I can get.

The thought of adding something green is still a really, really unsettling thought… But at least I can wear cherry red without squirming in the cheesiness of it all! This red, grey, black combo is kind of holiday-ish, right? Look how red my pants are! This has to count for something.

…Right?

Either way, snagging these jeans for $34.50 was one of the better purchases I’ve made. Ultra comfortable, stretchy, bright saucy red… I’ve been wanting a pair ever since – well, ever since I wrote about wanting a pair. And also since this Peer Pressure about bright denim. And also since 2.5 years ago when I also wrote about wanting a pair. Okay, so I’m lazy.

Do you get festive for the holiday season?

Probably watching Netflix.
