Isn’t it weird how some of the things you thought were utterly cool as a kid ended up being things you’re super into as an adult? That describes my relationship with wallpaper. As a kid, I thought wallpaper the furthest thing from my aesthetic, and now I’m flipping my lid for a collaboration between H&M and Anna Glover, a famous wallpaper & print designer.

As a stereotypically-angsty youth, nothing was cooler to me than the bedroom concept of black walls. Wallpaper was a cool bedroom’s nemesis, because obviously the only wallpaper that existed was the kind in everyone’s grandmother’s bathroom. Little did I know that my adult life would include lusting over interior design photos featuring the most gorgeous wallpaper you’ve ever seen.

With the ever-rising trend of 1970s style and the recent trends involving prints and florals in fashion, H&M was smart to pick someone who had keen eye for patterns. Wallpaper prints in affordable fashion has been a thing for me for years, and this new collaboration has me very excited.

Anna doesn’t limit herself to wallpaper, either. Her award-winning design firm has created everything from textiles to trend forecasting for high end design houses. This is clearly H&M throwing a bone to the design nerds in their customer base. Anna Glover is pretty much the Michael Jackson of pattern-focused prints.

All of the prints in this collection started out as paintings from Anna’s studio in London. Yup, she hand-draws and paints every one of these scenic patterns. Then, they’re digitally rendered and finely tuned until they have the almost-3D, almost-Rennaisance-Era-painting quality which, I think we can safely say, Anna Glover completely owns.

Prints can be a little intimidating, especially prints as bold and beautiful as these. Anna and H&M seem to have taken that into consideration, as there are several completely print-free pieces to ground the collection. The shapes of the pattern-less pieces are totally in-line with the rest of the pieces, but they have perfect neutral colors that compliment the other louder pieces.

We’re late to this springtime garden party, but it’s actually a great time to buy Anna Glover x H&M stuff because… it’s nearly all on sale! We conveniently placed this 3-month-late post to publish during a rare H&M sale.

If you’re enchanted by Anna Glover and her designs, H&M did a cute interview with her here. She’s small, fierce, and wildly creative – definitely worth a follow on Instagram, especially if you love prints!

Probably watching Netflix.
