Pretending to Spend Money at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Most of the time, I really don’t mind passing over these big, huge sale events when I’m light on cash. There will always be another sale, and the stars will align someday to make my bank account and a major sale event copacetic. Unfortunately, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and my ledger balance are at odds this year, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t pretend to score some major deals with this fistful of Monopoly money!

Plaid, Please

Lately, all I’ve wanted to wear is plaid pants a la 80’s punk followed by 90’s rocker revival. We can skip the Sid Vicious bondage straps, but the skinny leg style looks so good in plaid fabric, I’m ready to revive them for a third time in my third decade of life.

This Week on TLC’s “The Cozy Prepper”…

Sure, it might be 85°F outside and my sunburn is just starting to peel, but my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale cart is full of cozy, soft, sauna-like sweaters and cardigans. I’ve decided I’m a cozy prepper, like one of those people who packs their basement with dried and canned foods for when the world implodes, except I’m preparing for my autumn and winter wardrobe. That means warmpocalypse is only a few months away – I gotta get packing!

Accessorize Me

Historically, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the place where many, many people pick up their annual nice bag or nice shoes. Given the slough of luxury brands that Nordstrom carries and the discounts that this specific sale provides, it only makes sense to make your biggest (planned) purchases during this two week sale. That being said, I can’t even afford discount luxury products, but in addition to high-end brands like Badgley Mischka and Kate Space, Nordstrom also has a great selection of mid-range to low-priced brands that have equally stylish and functional accessories.

I get so inspired when I go through the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale pages that these ideas just start popping out of the woodwork. Before you know it, I’ve mentally replaced every item in my closet with something from the sale, complete with fantasy outfits.
