This is a Converse post from someone who didn’t get her first pair until she was twenty-seven. I know, I’m new. It’s weird. Let’s try to get past it, or maybe celebrate it a little with a post about some of the pairs of Converse I want in that brand-new-to-them sort of way.
First up are the classic Chuck Taylors. Well, actually, these are called the “Chuck Taylor All Star Specialty Ox” and I don’t really know what that means, but I like the Beluga color they come in. They’re currently ten bucks off at $44.99.
These are not ten bucks off. They’re $170, which is ridiculous, but they’re really, really cool-looking. (I think the reason for both is the leather situation. Moo-spensive.) Apparently these are the “Star Player EVs.” Yep. No clue. But look at the interesting!
Stripes! Holiday stripes, actually. Appropriately festive; must wear with a party dress ASAP. (These are sixty bucks.)
The Jack Purcell Johnny Ox “features a revamped style of the 75-year-old classic Jack Purcell sneaker with a modern twist.” It’s kind of boyish in a dirty skater sort of way, so of course I love it. (Fifty-one bucks.)
Back to the classics: Chuck Taylor High Top All Stars.
Admittedly, these prices are about average for sneakers. I wish I could give you better online deals, but I will say that finding a pair on sale in store isn’t too hard – Fred Meyer has a ton on sale right now. If you’re willing to hunt, scroll through this list and look for your specific size. The fewer sizes available, the better deal you’ll find.
